木本植物的次生木质部(木材)是维管形成层活动的产物,其形成过程是植物细胞分化的一种复杂类型,包括维管形成层发生、形成层细胞分裂、分化、细胞扩展、次生壁形成和细胞程序化死亡等阶段。这个过程由多种外界因素(如光周期、温度等)、内部因素(如植物激素等)和它们之间的相互作用来控制。本实验室主要以杨树为实验材料,采用剥皮再生创伤系统和整体系统,研究维管形成层活动周期调控及形成层发生、次生木质部细胞分化、次生壁形成和细胞程序死亡的分子机理,为定向改良木材材质提供理论指导。目前研究方向主要有以下两个方面:
1.维管形成层发生及次生维管组织模式形成。
2.维管形成层活动周期调控机理。
